PostSubject: Standardbearer-Royal Guard Grenadeers 1812   Standardbearer-Royal Guard Grenadeers 1812 EmptyThu Nov 20, 2008 11:47 am

Hola,

This is my next project on my workbench. 54mm figure from Romeo Models.
It's the standardbearer from the Royal Guard Grenadeers from the Kingdom of Naples, 1812.
An excellent cast. And fantastic sculpted is from Maurizio Bruno. With the Box-art painted by Danilo.

I started painting the face first as usual and after several hours of work it's almost done. Still have to correct some minor corrections. The beard on the sides still needs some more work. And the bearskin has some highlights but isn't finished yet.

Hope you like it sofar.
Thanks for looking and comments and critiques are welcome!

Marcel.

Thanks for commenting Cristiane!

Here is a little update of the figure. Started painting the base colors of the tunic and some first highlights and shadows. The most work is done on the white part. Only a little more blending and the extreme shadows have to be applied.

Thanks for looking.

Marcel.

The whites looks great, also the blue color but a miss some other color tones over the blue, maybe if you mix some blue + violet or red violet in the shadow will have a more warm look Smile
what did you use for the gold mix?...

Ernest and Robert thanks for the great comments!

Ernest: I wasn't satisfied with the blue shadows, so I will try adding red violet, thanks for the advice. Standardbearer-Royal Guard Grenadeers 1812 283384

Robert: I add a bit of neurtal grey to the shadows which give probably the blueish look.

Here the mixture for the gold lace:
I start with a basecoat of english uniform.
Then a mixture of flatbrown and old gold.
For the shadows more flatbrown and burnt umber.
For the highlights I use buff.

Regards,
Marcel.

I have made a bit more progress on the figure.
Added red violet to the shadows and I think is looks better now.
Also changed the highlight color a bit.
Finished the head and braidwork and jacket. Still have to do some touchups here an there.

Next steps are trousers, boots and arms.

Thanks for looking! and back to Standardbearer-Royal Guard Grenadeers 1812 617543

Just before the end of 2008 I have finished the figure.
It was a pleasure to paint. The flag took a bit more time than planned. Not totally satisfied about some parts.
I kept the basework a bit simple because I´m planning to make a little vignette with some other figures next year.
Thanks for looking and a happy 2009 to everybody!
Feliz any nuevo!

Comments and critiques are welcome.

Adios,
Marcel.

Thanks Ernest for the compliments. Most of the flag details are sculpted on and it´s not totally freehand painted.

You are right about the groundwork it´s terrible, but I didn´t finish the figure at home. I didn´t had any groundwork with me and because I´m planning to make a vignette together with murat I decided to leave it like this for the moment. Embarassed

The spelling is correct. Standardbearer-Royal Guard Grenadeers 1812 283384

Great work, Marcel.
I agree with the other, the flag work (free handed or not) is amazing, and the white is splendid.
